In this short video I want to talk to you about longevity and how to create a healthy lifestyle.

There is no question: people with minimal stress, wholesome nutrition and adequate physical and mental activity live longer.

If you think you are fighting a losing battle, because you have a “fat gene” or a sweet tooth and are constantly stressed out in our fast-paced society: Guess what? You are right!

We ALL possess these genes, as our bodies are conditioned for survival in the wild. Only a few decades ago, most people did not know when they were able to eat next. Many in the world today don’t have that luxury either.
Evolution conditioned us to get food whenever we can, the higher in calories, the better. Sweet tasting food was also a means to survival, as practically all naturally sweet foods are non-toxic and thus safe to eat.

Most of us are only one or two generations away from folks who suffered through the meager years of the Second World War. In my house, when I was growing up, it was a sin to throw away old, stale bread, for example. My parents would always intone: “Old bread is not hard, (having) NO bread is hard”.

The commands of these genes are deeply encoded in our DNA and embedded in the so-called reptilian brain, our primitive, instinctive brain function that is shared by all reptiles and mammals, including humans. It is the most powerful and oldest of our coping brain functions. It is there to protect us and assure our survival.

Willpower alone will not be able to override the commands of your reptilian brain as these commands are rooted in our subconscious mind. The subconscious mind is the driving force behind 99% of our activity! It generates thoughts and feelings instantly as we react to what the conscious mind picks up through our senses. We need to, therefore, find a way to REPROGRAM our subconscious mind as these archaic commands of “more fat, more sugar, more rest” don’t serve us anymore. Additionally we need to address stress relieving measures.

Only a multi-pronged approach will let you live a long, healthy life!
